At one point on Saturday, as I sat in an awning-sheltered cafe on a rainy street in old Montreal with Dave, Tom, Dale, Leslee, Rachel, qB, and several Anonymous Ones, I turned my camera to look behind us. How lonely these tables look without the laughter and smiles of virtual strangers turned dear friends.
I’m back from a weekend trip to Montreal for a high-energy meet-up with some long-time blogging buddies. I have plenty of stories and images to share, but right now I want to spend some quality time with my own bed and pillow. So for now, the rest of the story will wait until…

- If you look closely, you can see the bill of my white baseball cap reflected in this cafe window as I stood next to Leslee with her blue umbrella. It seems I can take reflective photos without even trying…

ah, Montreal. so lovely.
I can hardly wait for the stories.
I’ve been missing Europe these days (that sounds so very pretentious, but about this time last year we were getting ready to go, and the consultant I’m subcontracting to - with? for? - right now just spent the weekend in France. She’s based in England, which makes that fairly easy, but really - it sounds good, doesn’t it?
I might have to satisfy the urge with a trip to montreal. but of course, I probably can’t afford that in time or dollars (US or Canadian) either!
but really - I don’t mean to whine here. I just mean to say - ah, Montreal.
welcome home!

You were in Montreal? It’s only a hundred miles or so away. I love that place and have spent many a happy afternoon sitting with pitchers of sangria and plates of paella under an awning in the old city. Lots of happy memories of the place as I did some of my grad work at McGill.

I love seeing your photos, and I wish we were still there.
Though of course we can’t be; and that’s okay, too.
