During yesterday’s walkabout in Scituate, MA, I had to smile at the sight of “Toto” patiently waiting while his “Dorothy” was shopping or doing errands. It’s not yet hot enough here in New England to worry about leaving your little dog, too, in the car while you’re off mingling with lions and tigers and bears, oh my! But as soon as temperatures rise to match the sunny days we’ve been having, you’ll want to keep Toto out of your closed car lest he become a hot dog.

Cutie. I saw a lot of those little dogs around Paris. (And, thankfully, now there’s an army of street cleaners that come out every night!) There may not be a better life than being a pampered pooch in Paris.

Actually, the temperature doesn’t matter that much. I had a friend who left 2 dogs in the car without the windows open at all on a cloudy, 60-ish day, and they both died. I think the ‘hot dog’ concept that is promoted is not a helpful one. The windows should be open at any time of year.

It seems like every year or so in Florida there are one or more reports of children being left in hot cars and dying, I suppose the number of dogs is even higher, but not lurid enough to make the news.

Cute dog pic, but I also thought immediately that the sun beating on that pup could fry him in no time.
Hope you’re well, Lorianne… love your new profile pic! Drop by and check out my link to a segment I did for the Today Show… it’s my 5 minutes of fame, but also a really informative piece!!
