Yesterday morning: quiet dogwalk at Goose Pond here in Keene.
Midday: Mount Monadnock as seen from Rt. 101 in Dublin, NH, one of the snowy sights on the drive between New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
Afternoon: a pink cling-film replica of the Taj Mahal in the lobby of the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. We went to see teapots, but photography is prohibited in special exhibitions.
Evening: very tasty margaritas at Cilantro Mexican restaurant in Salem, MA. (This is the first of two rounds, before the world started looking fuzzy…)
Nightcap: three candles (for 30-something) on a peanut butter pie, delivered, lit, and wished upon in a Salem parking garage (don’t ask: it made sense at the time).
Yes, I made a wish; no, I’m not telling you. The book in the background is the church ladies’ cookbook where the pie recipe came from (again, it’s best you didn’t ask: it makes sense to the ladies involved).
Thanks again to Leslee and A (not her real initial) for birthday rich with artful teapots, tasty beverages, and much laughter: priceless.

The Taj Mahal is great, and I wish I could have seen the teapots. Boo to the museum for not allowing cameras. Wish I had been there to hoist a margarita or two in your honor!

The PEM has a partial ban on photography: you can take pictures of the permanent collection, but not special exhibitions. It has something to do with whether the museum owns the rights to the piece (and the teapots were just visiting!)
We asked permission to photograph the pink cling-wrap Taj Mahal since it’s technically a temporary exhibit…and we were told that since the Museum owns the wooden *chair* inside the cling-wrap, we could photograph it.
So if anyone asks, I was photographing the *chair*, not the pink structure around it. 😉

Photography is not allowed in any of our galleries or museums so it always amazes me that you can shoot virtually anywhere in the US!

I love the pic of Mt Monadnock. It reminds me of a couple of winters we lived in NH, in Hollis in the early 80s – a magical time for us.

Mmm, those margs look mighty tasty! (I’d say the same about the pie, but I know what’s in it! Did you taste?)

happy 30’something, lorianne!
how delicious … not sure how I didn’t pick up on this before, but your birthday is the same as my ex-husband’s (who I am still quite fond of), and his mother’s (who I still respect and adore). Now I’ll always associate one with the other. Apparently it was a good day in the universe all around – the perfect day for birthing special people! Happy Birthday.
