Another morning steeped in gray drizzle. A sprawling rose bush stands studded with raindrops and thorns.
This is my day thirteen contribution to this month’s River of Stones.

I’m trying to match the words to the photo. Or are you deliberately writing one thing but showing us something else…? (I guess they don’t HAVE to match! And I do like the photo!)

The photo has nothing to do with the post; it’s just what I had to share. 🙂

I have been browsing your blog for a few days now and have popped back and forth between the present and the past so many times I am getting dizzy. Picked this post to comment on if only because I have taken a bunch of photos of this type of plant as well but have no idea what it is….do you? They are so photogenic, I love them. They look like they would ring like bells if shaken. Wonderful blog, images, messages here. I look forward to visiting again.

Thanks for the kind words, Ginny. These seed pods are from common mullein, which is a common roadside weed. In the summer, the spikes have yellow flowers, with a basal rosette of furry leaves. They’re quite lovely, in a “weedy” kind of way.
