This morning I saw the catbird that’s been mewing and wheezing from the shrubs that line our driveway.
I was photographing our newly bloomed beauty bush, and a catbird hopped onto our neighbor’s fence from a scraggly black cherry tree that sprawls and blooms on our side but is partly dead on the neighbor’s side.
The catbird paused on the fence, fixed me with his black-bead eye beneath his smart black cap, then he hopped back into the foliage. I wish he’d show himself again.
